Before the start of the T20 World Cup 2026, Sunil Gavaskar made a promise to the Indian team and Suryakumar Yadav. The Indian legend, who is known for his celebrations after India win a big game, promised Suryakumar that he would dance with joy if the team managed to defend their crown.

“When you lift the trophy and receive it, I will start dancing,” Gavaskar said. “Dancing is my cardio. Everyone else does intense cardio, but I can’t do that at my age. So I do a little bit of cardio, and that’s dancing. There’s so much joy in seeing your captain and your country’s flag going up. Sometimes emotions just come out.”
On Sunday, March 8, Gavaskar delivered on the promise.
At first, just ahead of the presentation, the Indian legend was seen dancing, which was captured by the broadcasters.
