VMRDA promotes the VISTA App for easier park access, while YSRCP protests a new ₹10 per person visitor fee.
In an effort to modernise tourism infrastructure, VMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner N. Tej Bharath visited the Kailasagiri ticket counter on Friday and issued digital tickets using the newly-launched VISTA App (VMRDA Integrated Smart Ticketing Application).
He said the application is aimed at streamlining entry to VMRDA-managed parks and museums, providing a hassle-free experience for visitors. During a live demonstration, he appealed to the public to adopt the digital platform for quicker access and directed officials to undertake an extensive awareness campaign so that the benefits of the smart ticketing system reach a wider section of tourists.
Meanwhile, YSRCP district party president K. K. Raju criticised the recent changes, terming them an unfair financial burden on the public. He stated that while toll charges were earlier applicable only to vehicles, the revised system imposes an additional fee of ₹10 per person travelling in the vehicle, and alleged that the decision was implemented without adequate prior notice.
He demanded an immediate rollback of the revised fee structure and warned of large-scale public protests if the additional charges are not withdrawn.
