Van drives through barricade outside White House, driver detained: Local media
A van reportedly drove through a barricade near the White House early Wednesday morning, prompting a swift response from law enforcement agencies in Washington, DC, accoring to the Washington Police.
The Metropolitan Police Department said it assisted the US Secret Service shortly before 6:40 a.m. after the vehicle breached a barricade at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and H Street, Northwest.
Authorities said the driver of the van was detained at the scene and is currently being questioned. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.
As part of the ongoing probe, multiple streets in the immediate area have been temporarily closed to traffic. These include 15th Street and E Street Northwest, as well as H Street Northwest between 15th and 17th Streets.
A Secret Service spokesperson said several entrances and nearby streets were shut as authorities continued their investigation into the matter.
