Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birth centenary celebrations launch on December 24 with keynote address by Sudanshu Trivedi.
The birth centenary celebrations of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be officially launched on December 24 at 4 p.m. at Taj Deccan by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Foundation (ABV Foundation).
Rajya Sabha Member Sudanshu Trivedi will deliver a keynote address on “The Lotus in the Pond: Celebrating Vajpayee’s Legacy” to inaugurate the celebrations. Union Minister for Coal G. Kishan Reddy and former Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao will be the guests.
To effectively plan and carry out the yearlong celebrations throughout the State, a reception committee composed of distinguished personalities from various fields is being formed, a statement said.

The Union and State governments provided support in several ways to the needy people, but private institutions should also extend help, especially to those requiring medical assistance, said C.P. Rajkumar, Managing Director, Nalam Multispeciality Hospital, here on Saturday. Speaking at a function to honour Inspector General of Police V. Balakrishnan and neurologist S. Meenakshisundaram with C. Palaniappan Memorial Award for their contribution to society and Nalam Kappom medical adoption of Type-1 diabetic children, he said the governments implemented numerous welfare programmes, but the timely help by a private hospital or a doctor in the neighbourhood to the people in need would go a long way in safeguarding their lives.
