UP teen asks for lift, drugged, raped in car

The girl and her mother took a lift from a car in Mathura. The driver gave them water which was suspected to be drugged. When they fell unconscious, the driver raped the girl and then dumped them on the roadside in Firozabad.
A 19-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh, while travelling in a car with her mother, was allegedly drugged and raped, on Friday, February, 4. According to police, they were dumped on the road in Firozabad after the incident. They had asked the driver for a lift in Mathura to reach their home.
Based on the victim’s complaint and a medical examination, police registered an FIR at Narkhi police station in Firozabad on Wednesday, 9.
As per police reports, the teen and her mother worked as labourers in Haryana. They were returning to their home in UP and had reached Mathura by bus. Since they did not get a bus to travel further, they took a lift from a car in Mathura.
Narkhi police Station House Officer (SHO) Pradeep Kumar said, as quoted by Time of India, “the girl was thirsty and asked for water. Upon drinking the water, both the mother and girl fell unconscious, after which the driver raped the girl. We received the complaint on Tuesday evening.”
Deputy Superintendent of Police Abhishek Srivastava stated that a case under IPC Section 376, 328 has been registered based on the victim’s complaint.
Police said that the car driver’s name was mentioned by the survivor, but both the mother and the girl were unaware of the car’s registration number. Police are gathering more details and CCTV footage is also being examined.
