Two cops in Uttar Pradesh were caught on camera stealing an iPhone from a showroom. The store owner shared his statement about the incident in a now-viral video on social media.
Two cops posted in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district have been suspended after CCTV footage allegedly showed them stealing an iPhone from a showroom in the Line Bazar police station area, officials said.
According to reports, the two cops entered a mobile showroom near the JCS intersection under the pretext of purchasing a new iPhone and asked the owner to show them the most expensive model available.
While examining the devices, one of the cops allegedly took out his own handset, swapped it with the iPhone from the display, and pocketed it, after which both men briefly conversed, smiled, and left the store without making a purchase.
The theft came to light hours later when the showroom owner was unable to locate the iPhone during routine stock matching. CCTV footage was reviewed, which revealed the involvement of the two cops, identified as Mithilesh Yadav and Dhananjay Bind, both posted with the Jaunpur police.

Following a complaint by the showroom owner to senior officials, the officers were summoned and the return of the stolen iPhone was ensured. A departmental enquiry was subsequently initiated.

The profiles of at least three of China's leading nuclear, missile and radar experts were scrubbed from the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the country's most prestigious academic body. This comes as a series of purges under Premier Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign have decimated the upper echelons of China's military and scientific community.

The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.
