A cricket tournament in Mahuari village, Pathardeva block, Deoria district had a live rooster as the prize for the man of the match.
A video from Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district has taken social media by storm, showing a ‘Man of the Match’ winner being awarded not a trophy, but a desi murga (country chicken). The unusual prize has sparked curiosity and conversation online, turning a local cricket league into a viral sensation.
The clip was traced back to Mahuari village in the Pathardeva block, where the eight-day Mahuari Premier League (MPL) concluded on February 9. Organised by Pradyumn Pandey, a blogger and social media influencer from the area, the tournament was reportedly held in response to strong demand from local cricket enthusiasts.
16 teams participated in the league, including squads from Deoria, neighbouring districts, and even one team from Bihar. After days of competitive matches, the Pathardeva team emerged victorious, taking home a cash prize of Rs 10,000. The runner-up received Rs 5,000.

The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture.
