The Twitter account of the University Grant Commission was hacked late Saturday night. The account has been restored.
On Sunday, the official Twitter account of University Grants Commission, UGC, India was hacked, but now it has been restored. This is the third prominent Indian Twitter account that has been hacked in the past two days, including the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's Office and the Indian Meteorological Department of India.
The breach came to notice when some unidentified hackers took control over the Twitter handle of UGC and posted a long thread of irrelevant tweets. The hacker also tagged numerous unknown people from across India, and posted the cartoonist's picture as the profile photo.
As per information, a case was registered in this regard against unknown persons under relevant sections of the IT Act at the cyber police station in Lucknow. The matter will be probed by a team of experts from the DGP office. The UP government said the strictest action will be taken against those responsible. The case is being investigated by cyber experts.
