The Citizens for Uyyakondan (CFU), a group of people from various walks of life and ages, organised the 155th week of repainting and cleaning to restore the beauty of the Tyre Park on the banks of the Uyyakondan canal on Sunday.
Around 15 persons with a creative bent of mind volunteered to help restore the park. They removed debris such as plastic, paper, and glass bottles from the play area, and gave a coat of painting to the gates and other posts, and pulled out weeds.
Counsellor of ward 29 Kamal Musthafa assisted in the exercise by coordinating with the sanitary workers.
“We will complete the restoration work in a week or two and once completed the users will have a refreshing change while relaxing at the park” a member said.
