Two scholarship schemes for SC students: Govt to Lok Sabha

The central government provides two types of scholarships to Scheduled Castes (SC) students, it told Lok Sabha during Question Hour.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment A Narayanaswamy said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that the central government grants two types of scholarships to students from the Scheduled Castes to assist them pursue their academic careers.
The Post-Matric Scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled Castes (PMS-SC) and the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC students are granted to SC students with family incomes of less than Rs 2.5 lakh per annum under these initiatives, he added during Question Hour.
The PMS-SC system, according to the minister, pays compulsory non-refundable payments to students studying at the post-matric stage, which is from Class 11 onwards, including the course tuition price and academic allowance.
He also mentioned that the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students provides academic aid to eligible students in Classes 9 and 10.
