Bengaluru Police enhance security and transport for IPL matches, introduce new e-ticketing system, urging fans to "cheer responsibly".
Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure law and order during the upcoming IPL 2026 cricket matches scheduled on March 28 and April 5 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, said City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh. The police have issued a public advisory with the tagline “Cheer responsibly, celebrate responsibly.”
Explaining the arrangements at a press conference on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) at the Commissioner’s office, Mr. Singh said that to ease traffic congestion and promote public transport, authorities have introduced a QR code-based e-ticketing system. The ticket includes a metro pass, allowing spectators to commute conveniently across the city.
This initiative has been launched in coordination with Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Commuters can use metro services to reach the stadium via Cubbon Park Metro Station and MG Road Metro Station. Additional metro coaches have been deployed, and parking facilities have been arranged at metro entry points to support a smooth transit.
Entry to the stadium will be from Queen’s Road through six-metre-wide gates. A total of seven gates with 28 entry points have been set up to facilitate crowd movement. Only QR-code tickets will be accepted at the venue, and no physical tickets will be issued. The tickets are non-transferable.
Holding areas have been created inside the stadium premises to allow spectators to assemble in an orderly manner before entry, thereby preventing congestion on surrounding roads. Police have been instructed not to allow gatherings outside the stadium that could disrupt traffic flow.
