The Brahmavar police have arrested two persons on the charge of sharing content derogating Sai Baba Temple on social media.
The police gave names of the arrested persons Santosh Kumar Shetty,56, a manager in Teacher Cooperative Bank in Kundapur and K. Nagaraj, 62, the owner of Kalpataru Industries in Koteshwara.
The Brahmavar police received a video posted by Mr. Shetty on a WhatsApp group, which was related to a Sai Baba Temple. In the video, people were asked to look at the manner in which funds were being misused in the temple and were asked to share the video to a maximum number of people. Mr. Shetty posted this video on a WhatsApp group related to advocates and a few other professionals at 7 p.m. on January 28. The police looked at the video and registered a suo motu case under Sections 196 (1) and 353 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The police examined the content and found that the video was sent to Mr. Shetty by Mr. Nagaraj. The Brahmavar police team led by Police Sub Inspectors Ashok Malabagi and Sudarshan Doddamani arrested Mr. Shetty and Mr. Nagaraj on Thursday.
