India Today
Actor Trisha and filmmaker R Parthiban are embroiled in a public dispute following the latter's controversial remarks at a Chennai award show. The exchange has drawn widespread attention and is yet to die down.
The recent public showdown between actor Trisha and filmmaker R Parthiban has become a hot topic among fans of Tamil cinema. The back-and-forth rebuttals have taken social media by storm, eventually placing extra focus on Trisha's personal life. It all started as a pun-intended one-liner by Parthiban, which has now snowballed into an ugly fight in the open.
1. Parthiban's on-stage remark: At a recent award show in Chennai, while participating in a rapid-fire round, Parthiban was asked to comment about various actors he has worked with. When Trisha's photo was displayed on the screen, he remarked, saying, "Indha Kundhavai-yai veetileye kundhavaikavum, prechanai varamal iruka (Let Kundhavai sit at home, so that problems don't arise). For the unaware, Kundhavai is Trisha's character from Ponniyin Selvan, a film that also features Parthiban.

2. When pun goes wrong: Parthiban's comment on the issue was seen by many as a veiled reference to Trisha's recent public outing with Vijay. Trisha and Vijay were seen attending a wedding together, and leaving the venue together. Their public appearance, incidentally, came days after Vijay's wife Sangeetha filed for divorce alleging adultery and cruelty.
3. Trisha's scathing response: The actor responded to Parthiban's remarks without naming him in a scathing X post. She wrote, "A microphone doesn't make a comment intelligent. It just makes stupidity louder," while calling out the filmmaker's 'crude words' that reflect his personality and not the person he aimed at.
4. Trisha levels allegation: In her X post, she claimed that the event organisers told her that her name and photo were added to the show "at the last minute at the request of an individual conveyed through his assistant ". However, she did not name the person.
