Trinamool Congress will be holding its Martyrs’ Day rally on July 21, Thursday at Esplanade area in Kolkata after two years of virtual celebrations due to the Covid pandemic.

The TMC observes Martyrs’ Day every year on July 21 and the Martyrs’ Day rally is the biggest event of the year for the party.

The TMC observes July 21 as Martyrs' Day every year in remembrance of the 13 people killed in police firing in 1993 during a rally of the Youth Congress, of which Mamata Banerjee was then a leader.

Later, the West Bengal CM separated from the Congress and formed the Trinamool Congress, but did not stop observing Martyrs’ Day.

After two years, the rally will be held in the Esplanade area in the presence of lakhs of TMC workers.

Thousands of TMC workers from North Bengal and far flung areas have reached Kolkata. The food and drink arrangements for the workers have been made in several stadiums in Kolkata.
