A team of special staff in Rohini district has succeeded in arresting an absconding sharpshooter of the infamous Tillu Tajpuryia gang.
The accused, identified as Arun aka Sikandar, a resident of Sonipat, Haryana, was involved in a sensational crime wherein he fired upon the vehicle of a businessman and demanded extortion money. His other four associates, including a sharpshooter, conspirator and facilitators, were arrested earlier.
On April 8, 2021, a businessman, owning factories in Bawana, Delhi and Sonipat, Haryana, received a WhatsApp call and thereafter a threat message on his phone. The caller introduced himself as Chiku from the Tillu Tajpuriya gang.
He demanded Rs 1 crore as extortion money and threatened to kill him by "firing 100 rounds at him" if he failed to meet the demand.
Based on the businessman’s complaint, a case was registered in the North Rohini police station and an investigation was taken up.
Police questioned accused Himmat aka Chiku aka Sonu who was already behind bars and recovered a cell phone from his possession in the jail premises.Again, on August 23, two unknown gunmen on a bike fired at the victim's car. A total of five rounds were fired and a threat letter seeking money was left behind by the criminals.
The letter read, "You have three days left. You will receive a call which will inform you of the location where you have to bring the money. If you say no, it will cost you your life."
