Tiger Shroff is actually Jai Hemant Shroff. Bet you didn't know that about Birthday Boy

What if we told you that Tiger Shroff was born as Jai Hemant Shroff? So, how did he end up with the name 'Tiger'?

Screen names used to be a thing back in the day. You know like Dilip Kumar was actually Muhammed Yusuf Khan but he chose to go by Dilip Kumar. Or how Akshay Kumar is actually Rajiv Bhatia. But what if we told you that 'Tiger' is also not the Heropanti 2 actor's real name? That's right, Birthday Boy Tiger Shroff was born Jai Hemant Shroff, but the actor decided to change his name before his big Bollywood debut. On Tiger's 31st birthday, we tell you the hilarious reason why he came to be known as Tiger.

Tiger Shroff celebrates his 31st birthday today, March 2. The actor has successfully branded himself as the new-age action star, and his superb dancing skills are just an add-on. Born to Ayesha Shroff and actor Jackie Shroff on March 2, 1990, Tiger was named Jai Hemant Shroff. However, he debuted into the film industry with the name Tiger. In an old interview, Tiger had revealed why he came to be known by this unusual name instead of just going with Jai.

"I used to bite as a kid ... like bite everyone around. I bit my teacher in school, and even got punished for that," Tiger had said in an old interview with Hindustan Times. So, turns out, he got the name Tiger when people started comparing him to a tiger because of his biting habit.

Back in 2014, Tiger Shroff adopted a tiger, Lee, at the Maharajbagh zoo in Nagpur. Interestingly, Tiger first met Lee while promoting Heropanti, his debut film with actor Kriti Sanon the same year.

Tiger Shroff has also admitted that he didn't actually want to become an actor, and he was much rather interested in a career in sports. "I was more into sports ... football was my favourite, but then even as a kid I knew that I was being watched ... my father’s friends would keep talking about seeing me in Bollywood, someday," Tiger had once said in an old interview.

But, aren't we glad that he chose to follow in his father's footsteps and get into Bollywood? Presently, Tiger and Tara Sutaria have jetted off to Thailand to shoot the final schedule of his next film, Heropanti 2.
