Three die as car plunges off bridge and catches fire in Gujarat; bodies sent for forensic examination.
Three persons were killed after the car they were travelling in fell off a bridge and burst into flames in Gujarat’s Rajkot district early on Friday (January 30, 2026), police said.
The accident occurred around 5.30 a.m. on the Gondal–Atkot highway when the vehicle, en route from Chhota Udepur to Gondal, rammed into the side wall of an eight-foot-high bridge over a small stream and plunged to the ground, the police said. The car caught fire immediately after the fall, trapping the occupants inside. All three passengers were charred to death on the spot.
The bodies have been recovered and sent for forensic examination, while samples have been forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory for identification. Further investigation is underway, the police added.

After being repeatedly disrupted for three consecutive days over issues ranging from the Governor’s address and alleged disrespect to the national anthem to demands for the resignation of the Excise Minister, among others, normalcy finally returned to the Legislative Council on Friday, with proceedings commencing.
