Three held for house robbery in East Marredpally
Three members of a gang involved in a violent house robbery at an apartment in East Marredpally earlier this month were arrested on Tuesday during a joint operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Secunderabad Zone, and the Lalaguda police. The officials recovered 28.8 grams of gold ornaments worth about ₹4.5 lakh.
The accused, identified as Gurrappagari Mahesh, 36, a labourer, Chinnakotla Pavan Kumar alias Bavanna, 48, a construction worker, and Geeju Surendra, 37, all natives of Cheekirevulapalle village in Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh, were apprehended near Secunderabad Railway Station in the early hours while attempting to move out of the city.
During the arrest, police recovered 18.15-gram gold chain, 3.15-gram gold finger ring and a 7.52-gram gold bangle, along with two mobile phones.
Investigations revealed that the prime accused Mahesh had previously worked as a watchman at Arihant Sadan Apartment from October 2021 to May 2024 and was familiar with the building layout and residents’ routines. After returning to his native village and working as a labourer, he conspired with the other two accused to commit a robbery to meet personal expenses.
On January 21, 2026, Mahesh and Pavan travelled to Hyderabad, entered a third-floor flat in the apartment complex and threatened the occupant before robbing her of the gold ornaments she was wearing. They then fled the scene and regrouped with Surendra in Secunderabad before travelling to Karnataka, where they shared the stolen property and dispersed.
Police said the prime accused has a criminal history and is involved in two kidnapping cases registered at Karkhana police station in 2024, while the second accused was found to be involved in a murder case registered in Bengaluru in 2019.
