The Kerala Story 2 filmmaker is greedy, wants to divide people: Anurag Kashyap
India Today
Anurag Kashyap recently slammed The Kerala Story 2 and called it a propaganda film. The film, produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, has attracted controversy similar to its predecessor, prompting court involvement and public debate over its themes and portrayal.
The release of The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond, a follow-up to the original film from nearly three years ago, has reignited controversy in India. The upcoming movie, produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, is under scrutiny due to its content and claims of being “inspired by many true events.” Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap did not hold back his criticism of Kerala Story, calling the film a “propaganda” and accusing its makers of prioritising profit over substance.
In an interaction with the media at Kochi airport today, Kashyap slammed the movie, saying it aims to divide audiences rather than tell a meaningful story. He even referred to a controversial scene in which one of the women is shown being forcibly fed beef.

“Kerala Story movie is s***. The movie is propaganda and bull****. Aise kaun beef khilata hai?Aise toh koi khichdi bhi nahi khilata hai (Who even feeds beef like that? You wouldn’t even serve khichdi that way). The purpose of the film is to make money. They just want to please everybody and divide people. The filmmaker is a greedy man. He just wants to make money,” he said.
The film claims that young Hindu women are lured into interfaith marriages, only to be assaulted, stripped of their rights, and forced to convert to Islam.
The trailer has ignited intense debate and attracted political scrutiny. On Thursday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticised the film, describing it as “false propaganda” and “poisonous.”
