Security forces killed a Pakistani terrorist and foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Uri sector of Baramulla after intelligence inputs prompted a joint Army–J&K Police operation.
Security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Uri sector during a joint operation carried out late on Saturday night, officials said.
According to the Indian Army, the operation was launched in the general area of Buchhar in the Uri sector of Baramulla district following specific intelligence inputs shared by the Jammu and Kashmir Police about a possible infiltration attempt.
The joint operation began on the intervening night of March 14 and 15, when alert troops laid an ambush in the area after receiving the tip-off.
During the surveillance, soldiers spotted suspicious movement of a suspected militant hiding in dense vegetation.
Security personnel readjusted the ambush position and challenged the suspect. The militant responded by opening indiscriminate fire on the troops, triggering a brief exchange of gunfire.
During the encounter, one suspected Pakistani terrorist was killed, officials said.

This moment comes days after the Supreme Court allowed Harish Rana to die with dignity – a historic first court-ordered case of passive euthanasia in India. The court acknowledged the medical opinion that Rana will never recover and that the tubes that feed him and keep him alive are only prolonging his pain.
