
Tempo collides with trailer on Lucknow-Kanpur Highway; 6 dead, 1 critical

A road accident occurred on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway on Friday, resulting in the deaths of six people and one more being critically injured. The injured person has been admitted to the trauma centre.
A road accident on the Lucknow-Kanpur Highway resulted in the death of six people on Friday night, June 17.
A tempo and a trailer were involved in the accident. Apart from the six people who died, the condition of one more individual is critical and they have been admitted to the trauma centre.
The tempo had reportedly collided with the trailer when it was reversing. The accident happened on the Kanpur Highway in the Banthra police station area.
Police hastily reached the spot of the accident and cleared the vehicles to quickly open up the highway.

The matter pertains to a petition filed by one Nikhil Kumar Punia, who was born into an upper-caste Hindu family but supposedly converted to Buddhism later. He, along with another General Category candidate, has sought minority reservation benefits for admission to a Buddhist medical college on grounds of their purported conversion.
