Telangana got zero in Budget, says KTR; Deputy CM flags 'step-motherly' treatment

KTR questioned what the Chief Minister had achieved by visiting Delhi more than 60 times, claiming those visits yielded no financial support for the state. He demanded that the state government explain to the people why the state was denied funds, even as neighbouring states received substantial allocations.
Senior BRS leader and party working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday alleged that Telangana had suffered “grave injustice” in the Union Budget, accusing both the BJP-led Centre and the Congress-led state government of failing to secure any funds or projects for the state.
Addressing the media, KTR said Telangana was left with “nothing but a big zero” in the Union Budget, holding Union ministers from the state and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy responsible for what he termed a complete failure. He alleged that the BJP had not allocated a single rupee or sanctioned a single major project for Telangana for over a decade.
KTR questioned what the Chief Minister had achieved by visiting Delhi more than 60 times, claiming those visits yielded no financial support for the state. He alleged that claims of Telangana benefiting from a “big brother–younger brother” relationship between the Congress and the BJP had been exposed as hollow by the Budget.
He demanded that Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana, Union ministers, and the state government explain to the people why the state was denied funds, even as neighbouring states received substantial allocations.
The BRS leader said repeated demands for national status for the Palamuru–Ranga Reddy irrigation project, Metro Rail expansion, the Regional Ring Road, new railway lines, a coach factory in Warangal, IIT and IIM campuses, the Bayyaram steel plant, and a mega textile park in Sircilla had been ignored for years.
KTR alleged that despite Telangana having two Union ministers, their failure to raise their voice in Delhi resulted in the state receiving nothing. He said the Centre had failed to honour assurances made at the time of state bifurcation, calling it continued discrimination against Telangana.
