Jagan Reddy's family feud deepens as his mother backs daughter in property row

Jagan Reddy's family feud has intensified over an ancestral property dispute. His mother has backed his daughter, adding a new twist to the row.
The simmering property dispute within the YS Jagan Mohgan Reddy's family has escalated into a full-blown public dispute after his mother Vijayamma filed a notarised affidavit in court, making serious allegations against her son, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
What was earlier seen as a private disagreement between siblings has now taken a deeply political and personal turn. YS Sharmila has consistently alleged that her rightful share of family assets is being denied. However, the latest affidavit indicates that the dispute is no longer limited to her claims, with Vijayamma now directly contradicting Jagan’s position.
In her strongly worded submission, Vijayamma said that all assets held until the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy in 2009 are combined family properties and were never formally divided. She asserted that YSR’s clear intention was for these assets to be distributed equally among the four grandchildren, a fact she said was known to close associates.
The affidavit further noted that Jagan had acknowledged Sharmila’s rightful share through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), but failed to honour it in both letter and spirit. Vijayamma added that even under the MoU, Sharmila received less than what she was actually entitled to.
It also highlighted that several significant assets, including Saraswati Cement and land in Yelahanka, were excluded from the MoU despite rightfully belonging to Sharmila. The document clarified that the money given to her was only dividend income from her share and not a final settlement.
Expressing anguish, Vijayamma accused Jagan of unfair treatment in property matters, not just towards Sharmila but also towards her grandchildren. In a pointed remark, she said, “the truth is known to my God and my son,” indicating that Jagan is fully aware of the situation.

The move follows internal challenges faced by both leaders. Ramadoss, founder of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), has been at odds with his son Anbumani Ramadoss over control of the party. Despite being the founder, he has been unable to legally reclaim the party symbol or leadership post. Sasikala, a close aide of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, has also struggled to regain influence within the AIADMK.
