Young medical professionals should contribute to diabetes research, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has said.
The Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences was presented with the MV Lifetime Achievement award by the MV Hospital for Diabetes for his contributions to diabetes research, during the inauguration of the three-day national conference 'MVCON 2026' organised by the hospital here.
Workshops, practical training in debridement, and advanced wound care techniques and other events were held as part of the conference, a press release said.
The minister, on Friday, said that he felt deeply indebted to Tamil Nadu and extremely honoured to receive the MV Lifetime Achievement Award 2026, according to the release.
The minister, on the occasion, encouraged young professionals to contribute to advancing diabetes research and patient care, the release said.
Over 1,000 people, including doctors and healthcare professionals, researchers in diabetes care and specialists in diabetic foot and wound management, attended the conference.

The move follows internal challenges faced by both leaders. Ramadoss, founder of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), has been at odds with his son Anbumani Ramadoss over control of the party. Despite being the founder, he has been unable to legally reclaim the party symbol or leadership post. Sasikala, a close aide of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, has also struggled to regain influence within the AIADMK.
