The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a sub-postmaster based on the allegation of misappropriation of Rs 1.62 crore.

The accused, identified as Naresh Kumar, works at the Chintapalli Post Office, Nalgonda division, Telangana.
The accused received the reports in respect of Social Security Pension Accounts from the Branch Post Offices (BPMs) including Gadia Gowraram Branch Post Office, Injamur Branch Post office, Kurmapalli Branch Post Office, Nasarlapalli Branch Post Office, Madanapur Branch Post Office, Takkalapalli Branch Post Office and Kurmed Branch Post Office.
It was alleged that he exaggerated the reports by changing the amounts in the reports of BPMs in his computer ID and showed that the aforementioned branch post offices had generated these reports and thus he misappropriated an approximate amount of Rs 1,62,50,000.
The CBI also conducted a search at the premises of the accused in Devarkonda, Nalgonda, to arrest him.
