French President Emmanuel Macron, who wrapped up his three-day trip to India, has underscored his country's deepening partnership with New Delhi. During a conversation with podcaster Raj Shamani, Macron said the two nations aim to maintain balanced ties with major powers rather than align with any bloc.
Macron’s visit highlighted the accelerating strategic and technology partnership between France and India, as he attended the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and interacted with leading global tech executives.
“We don’t want to be dependent on one of the two big powers. We want good relations with the US and China,” he said in the podcast.
The President also noted that India and France together demonstrated a “third way” grounded in democracy, rule of law and multilateral cooperation.
“When we team up, we deliver,” he added, citing joint initiatives from solar alliances to Indo-Pacific cooperation.
On the podcast, Shamani asked Macron why a student should choose France over the US or other European destinations.
