Tamil Nadu principal sponsors first flight for 20 government school students

20 students from Kondanur village in Tenkasi district experienced their first airplane journey, thanks to an initiative by their school principal, Michael Raj.
A school principal in Tamil Nadu has won hearts after going the extra mile to fulfill a simple dream of his students: flying in an airplane. For many children studying in a small government school, air travel felt like something they might never experience. But their principal decided to turn that dream into reality.
Michael Raj, the principal of the Government Middle School in Kondanur village under Keelapavoor Union in Tenkasi district, organised a special trip for his students that included their very first flight journey. The school has just over 100 students and five teachers, and most of the children come from modest backgrounds.
The idea for the trip came during a classroom lesson about the Wright brothers. While teaching the topic, Michael Raj asked his students about their dreams. Though the children shared many wishes, they all said in unison that they wanted to fly in an airplane at least once in their lifetime.
Touched by their response, the principal decided to make it happen.
About three months ago, he booked tickets on an IndiGo flight for 20 students and eight teachers to travel from Madurai to Chennai. But the trip also came with a challenge. Michael Raj organised a competition and announced that the airplane journey would be awarded as a prize.

The profiles of at least three of China's leading nuclear, missile and radar experts were scrubbed from the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the country's most prestigious academic body. This comes as a series of purges under Premier Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign have decimated the upper echelons of China's military and scientific community.

The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture. A dive into the world of Zoroastrianism and Vedas shows us how Indians and Iranians have been sharing languages, Gods, sciences and a sacred fire for thousands of years.
