
Supreme Court gives green signal to conduct GATE 2022, exam begins from today

The Supreme Court has given a green signal to conduct GATE 2022 exams. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Exam, 2022 (GATE 2022) will begin from Saturday (February 5). The computer-based test (CBT) will be conducted in two shifts - from 9 am to 12 noon, and 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
The other phases of GATE 2022 will be held on February 6, 12, and 13.
The Supreme Court bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud rejected petitions against the postponement, saying it would create "chaos and uncertainty" in the lives of students who have registered for the exam.
In a petition, the petitioners requested that the exam be postponed due to the third wave of Covid-19, however, the court determined no overarching reason to supplant the duties and responsibilities of regulatory authorities.
GATE is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admission to the master's programme and recruitment by some public sector companies.
