
Stalin inaugurates new hostel complexes for students with special needs at Presidency College

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday (December 4, 2024) inaugurated two blocks of newly constructed hostel complexes built at a cost of ₹ 21.60 crore for students with special needs on the premises of Presidency College in Chennai.

According to a press release, Mr. Stalin, while participating in the convocation of graduates at Presidency College in 2022, had announced that the State government would construct hostel complexes on its premises for the benefit of students with special needs.
After inaugurating the hostel complexes on Wednesday, Mr. Stalin interacted with the students about the facilities. With ground plus two floors, the complexes were constructed to accommodate 114 boys and 96 girls. Some of the facilities in the hostel include Tactile Guiding Surface Indicators, Braille Boards, calling bells in all rooms for emergencies, almirahs with smart locks, and bathrooms with special type grade bars.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers Ma. Subramanian, P.K. Sekarbabu, Govi Cheziaan, and Greater Chennai Corporation Mayor R. Priya were also present at the inauguration.
