According to locals, the rental vehicle coming from the opposite direction was speeding, and a young woman was allegedly behind the wheel. Eyewitnesses claimed other women in the Thar tried to switch drivers to evade police action. The impact crushed the victim's car, triggering panic as locals rushed to help.
A 65-year-old tourist from Bhopal, Bhagat Ram Sharma, was killed on Monday after a speeding SUV rammed his hatchback at the Happy Bar junction in Goa's Assagao.
While Sharma died on the spot, two other passengers sustained minor injuries. In a miraculous escape, a five-month-old infant in the vehicle remained completely unharmed.
The incident sparked immediate tension as onlookers claimed the SUV’s occupants tried to switch seats after the crash to shield the actual driver from accountability.
Police are currently investigating these claims and the cause of the accident.
On Monday afternoon, at Happy Bar Junction in Asgaon, a high-speed rental Thar SUV collided with a tourist’s car. In this accident, 65-year-old Bhagtaram Sharma from Bhopal died on the spot. Fortunately, a five-month-old baby, who was also in the i20, narrowly escaped.
The Sharma family from Bhopal was on a safari in Goa in their private car when the accident occurred at Asgaon Junction.
