
Special meeting to review injustice meted out to SC & ST officials in promotion: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah

The decision came on January 28 during the State-level meeting on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes welfare. The Chief Minister directed Chief Secretary Shalini Rajaneesh to convene the special meeting.
A meeting will be convened to review the injustice meted out to State Government employees and officers belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in promotions in different departments.
Stating that he would not tolerate officials trying to prevent opportunities to SCs & STs, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah insisted that reservation should be mandatorily implemented in all departments.

Raising matters related to injustice in promotion and service issues of SC and ST officials, Ballari Member of Parliament E. Tukaram and MLA Narendra Swamy alleged that rules had been violated in drafting seniority list in Police Department, and that the issue has not been addressed even after being brought to the notice of senior officials. They accused the ADGP (Admin) of not being serious in implementation.
MLC Sudham Das pointed out that the injustice in backlog and promotion issues brought out by the Cabinet sub-committee is being ignored. “Is there no value for the sub-committee’s reports?”
This resulted in the Chief Minister calling for a special meeting.
The Chief Minister said that action would be initiated against the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police if it came to the notice of the government that the practice of the banned Devdasi system was continuing anywhere.
