CID to investigate sexual assault allegations against suspended Moodbidri Police Inspector P.G. Sandesh, reveals Home Minister Parameshwara.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will investigate into sexual assault and other allegations against Moobidri Police Inspector P.G. Sandesh who is now under suspension.
Talking to reporters in Bengaluru on Monday, Home Minister G. Parameshwara said chairperson of Karnataka State Commission for Women Nagalakshmi Choudhary and a group of victims met him and briefed him about allegations against Sandesh.
“As an immediate action, the inspector concerned was placed under suspension. A report is expected to be submitted by the Mangaluru Police to the government shortly,” he said.
In light of allegations against the inspector, Dr. Parameshwara said that he directed Director General and Inspector General of Police M.A. Saleem to get the allegations investigated by the CID. “The CID investigation will reveal the truth,” he said.
The Home Minister added that the investigation would also reveal whether there were any more victims and other facts related to the allegations.
The Venoor police of Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, March 21, filed a rape case against the inspector after a principal of a college in Belthangady taluk filed a compliant accusing Sandesh of sexually assaulting her between 2020 and 2023. She also accused him of taking ₹16 lakh, ₹4 lakh worth gold, and logs of teak wood for his house construction work in Belthangady. The inspector was accused of offences under Sections 64(2) (rape by a police officer), 308 (extortion), 351 (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
