Sonu Nigam conferred with Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan for Bengali actor Victor Banerjee

The Government of India has released a list of the Padma awardees ahead of India's 73rd Republic Day. Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam to be conferred with Padma Shri, while veteran Bengali actor Victor Banerjee will be awarded the Padma Bhushan.
The Government of India has released a list of the Padma awardees ahead of India's 73rd Republic Day. Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam and veteran Bengali actor Victor Banerjee are among 35 personalities under the Arts category who will be conferred with the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan Awards this year. While Sonu Nigam will receive the Padma Shri Award, Victor Banerjee will be the recipient of the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in the country. Indian film director Chandraprakash Dwivedi was also conferred with the Padma Shri Award.
Other than that, Prabha Atre, an Indian classical vocalist from the Kirana gharana, has been conferred with the Padma Vibhushan.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, who died last year, will receive Padma Vibhushan for Public Affairs. Late CDS General Bipin Rawat will also receive Padma Vibhushan for Civil Service. Meanwhile, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will be honoured with Padma Bhushan for Public Affairs.
The list of 128 Padma Awards comprises four Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 107 Padma Shri Awards. Out of 128 awardees, 34 are women and the list also includes 10 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 13 Posthumous awardees.
