After consuming spurious liquor, six people died and more than twenty were hospitalised in West Bengal’s Howrah district. The families of the deceased have alleged that they lost their lives after they took hooch.
While many are said to be critical right now, the death toll is expected to rise. According to local sources, several people in that area fell ill after consuming alcohol on Tuesday night.
Many people start vomiting shortly after consuming alcohol. Later, many of them fell seriously ill and died at home. They were rushed to the T.L. Jaisawal Hospital and Howrah Hospital. The police also reached the spot to take cognizance of the matter.
According to hospital sources, about 20 people have been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Reportedly, someone was selling prohibited alcohol not far from the police station.
The police are currently investigating the case. Further details are awaited.
