On Thursday, an illegal coal mine collapsed in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district in which several people are feared trapped. No injuries or deaths have been reported till now.
Several people are feared trapped after a coal mine collapsed in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Thursday. The incident has been reported from Nirsa Block in Dhanbad in Dumarjor village and under Chirkunda police station limits. There are no reports of injuries or deaths till now.
Initial reports suggest that illegal mining was going on in an abandoned coal pit. A 60-foot road caved in near a temporarily closed coal mine in Dhanbad, reported news agency ANI.
"60-feet 'kachcha' road collapsed at around 8:30am in Dhanbad near the temporarily closed mining lease area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). No trapping or any death/injury has been found till now or appears likely," Deputy Commissioner Dhanbad told ANI.

A similar incident was reported in February this year when an illegal coal mine collapsed in Jharkhand. The sealed coal mine was being operated illegally when it caved in after mining equipment fell from the height of 20 feet.
