Schools in Dindigul district reopen after summer vacation

Children in Dindigul return to school with warm welcome, new supplies, and focus on education and healthcare by government.
Children returned to schools in Dindigul district on Monday after summer vacation. They were welcomed by the school teachers with flowers, sweets and chocolates on the school premises.
Minister for Food and Civil Supplies R. Sakkarapani distributed new textbooks, notebooks, uniforms and educational materials to the school students for the academic year 2025-26 in the government schools at Oddanchatram in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the State government was implementing various schemes for the welfare of the students. Education and healthcare were the two eyes of the government and there would be focus on these two sectors, he said.
The government had allocated funds for School Education and Higher Education Departments. The government had established Government Arts and Science Colleges, Arts and Science Colleges for Women, Industrial Training Institutes, Cooperative Training Institute, Siddha Institute and Competitive Training Examination Centre in the district for the benefit of the students, he said.
Dindigul Mayor Ilamathi welcomed the newly enrolled students at the Corporation Primary School on West Car Street with garland and sweets. Repair works were carried out particularly in the classrooms at the schools in the district prior to the school reopening following the summer vacation. The classrooms were given a fresh coat of paint.
Earlier, Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan had inspected school buses and school vans in the district for road worthiness. The vehicles were checked for all safety parameters. Over 600 school vehicles were inspected across the district during the exercise. As per the instructions from the School Education Department, priority will be also given to the physical education, moral science and library classes.
