
Puducherry election: First round of EVM randomisation over in Puducherry

Puducherry completes first EVM randomisation for April 9 Assembly elections, ensuring transparency with political party representatives present.
The Elections Department has completed the first randomisation of EVMs and VVPATs to be used in the April 9 Assembly elections.
The first randomisation of First Level Checking (FLC)-passed EVMs and VVPATs is done by the District Election Officer to allocate EVMs and VVPATs to each of the Assembly constituency.
The exercise was undertaken through EVM Management System by the DEO in the presence of representatives of national and State-recognised political parties, a press note from P. Jawahar, Chief Electoral Officer said.
After completion of the FLC process, the lists of EVMs and VVPATs allocated constituency-wise were shared with all the political parties at district headquarters. Thereafter, these EVMs and VVPATs were handed over to the Returning Officers concerned for use in elections.
These EVMs and VVPATs were stored in strong rooms in the respective Assembly constituencies in the presence of representatives of various political parties.
After finalisation of the list of contesting candidates, the list of first randomised EVMs and VVPATs will be shared with them also, the CEO said.
