The death of well-known religious storyteller and devotional singer Sadhvi Prem Baisa has triggered a major police response in Rajasthan, with police forming a 9-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation. Her untimely death raised questions over whether it was natural or involved foul play.
Sadhvi Prem Baisa died under suspicious circumstances on the evening of January 28 in Jodhpur. Her sudden death has left her followers and members of the saint community in shock and mourning, while also raising questions about the circumstances of the incident.
The investigation is being conducted from multiple angles, and authorities are awaiting the submission of viscera and post-mortem reports, which are expected to play a key role in determining the cause of death, Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash told India Today TV.
One of the central points of the investigation concerns the role of Devi Singh Rajpurohit, a compounder who was reportedly acquainted with both Sadhvi Prem Baisa and her father, Veeram Nath, to the hospital.
According to reports accessed by India Today TV, Rajpurohit administered multiple injections to the sadhvi, after which her condition reportedly deteriorated.
Sources said that when Sadhvi Prem Baisa was being taken from the ashram to Pariksha Hospital in Jodhpur, a man named Suresh was present in the vehicle and administered CPR. At the hospital, Dr Praveen Jain declared her “brought dead.”
