Sack Minister Raja Kannappan, demands SC forum

Minister for Backward Classes and Welfare Raja Kannappan must be sacked and and booked under the provisions of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for verbally abusing a Block Development Officer belonging to Scheduled Caste, demanded Devendrakula Velalar Sangam.
Its secretary Jeyachandran handed over a petition addressed to the Governor to Collector S. Aneesh Sekhar here on Monday. Mr. Jeyachandran said that the Minister had ill-treated the BDO in Sivaganga district on March 27 and the victim himself has naratted the incident.
Stating that the Minister had violated the oath taken while assuming office, the petitioner sought his dismissal from the cabinet.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday pledged to mobilise people in resistance against the BJP-led Union government’s “anti-agricultural worker, anti-farmer, anti-worker, anti-people” laws and policies till they are all repealed, the party said on Friday. In a statement issued here, the CPI(M) said the members took the pledge following a three-day meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram.
