A Russian tourist visited a Sri Lankan shop to get custom flip-flops made on the spot, which left social media users praising the unique experience and local craftsmanship.
A Russian tourist shared how he unexpectedly stumbled upon a shop in Sri Lanka that made custom sandals from scratch right in front of customers, and the internet cannot get enough of the uniqueness of the process.
Zahar K, who is currently visiting Sri Lanka, shared the video on his Instagram account as he documented what he thought would be a simple purchase of flip-flops but turned out to be a fascinating made-to-order process.
In the now-viral video, the tourist walks into a small local footwear shop expecting to buy a regular pair of sandals. Instead, the shop staff guide him through a series of steps that turn the purchase into a personalised crafting experience.
The process began with him placing his foot on a sizing board, so the staff could trace and match the exact outline of his foot. This step helped them determine the precise size and shape needed for the sandals.
Next, he was asked to spin a small wheel to randomly select the design style for his sandals. After that, he choose the sole he preferred and then picked the straps that would go on the footwear.
Once the selections were made, the shop staff began assembling the sandals immediately. In the video, the worker could be seen cutting the materials, fitting the straps, and shaping the sole while the tourist watched closely.

The profiles of at least three of China's leading nuclear, missile and radar experts were scrubbed from the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the country's most prestigious academic body. This comes as a series of purges under Premier Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign have decimated the upper echelons of China's military and scientific community.

The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture. A dive into the world of Zoroastrianism and Vedas shows us how Indians and Iranians have been sharing languages, Gods, sciences and a sacred fire for thousands of years.
