The Financial Times had reported that discussions between high-ranking Iranian and Russian officials about the delivery of drones began days after Israel and the US initiated their joint military campaign against Tehran. The claim was attributed to two unnamed officials briefed on the intelligence.
The Kremlin on Thursday dismissed a news report that Russia is delivering drones to Iran by saying that the media were printing a lot of lies and people should pay no attention to them. The report, published earlier in the day by the Financial Times, cited Western intelligence to claim that Russia was close to completing a phased shipment of drones, medicine and food to Iran.

Attack drones, particularly the Iranian-made Shahed model, have arguably emerged as the most effective weapon in Iran's arsenal as the Islamic Republic fights the joint front of Israel and the US, due to the low-cost factor involved in the manufacturing of these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Iran has used waves of missiles and suicide drones to target sites across the Gulf region, initially maintaining that its retaliatory campaign focused only on US-linked sites, including military bases, spread across the Middle East.
One of the publicly stated objectives of the US in its ongoing military campaign is the destruction of Iran's missile and drone manufacturing capabilities.
US Navy Admiral Brad Cooper, who commands the US Central Command, said his forces have hit more than 10,000 targets since the start of the war, destroying 92 per cent of Iran's largest ships and more than two-thirds of the country's missile, drone and naval production facilities.

The IRGC claimed it had "successfully targeted" the US aircraft, though it did not immediately provide details on the location, extent of damage or the fate of the pilot. There has been no immediate confirmation from the United States military, which has previously disputed similar claims by Iran during the conflict.

Continuing on their string of victories in special elections since 2024, Democrats flipped the long-held Republican 87th House District in the Florida State House on Tuesday. The win, which comes ahead of the critical midterms in November, also hands Democrats a seat that is home to President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.
