No turning back, get serious before it's too late: Trump warns Iran over truce plan

The US has put forward a 15-point proposal to Iran to end the Middle East conflict, which includes conditions such as strict curbs on Tehran's nuclear programme, an end to support for proxy groups and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The gap between Washington and Tehran over ending the conflict still looks as wide as ever, with both sides digging in even as calls for a ceasefire grow louder. Messages are being passed through intermediaries, but on the surface, a real breakthrough looking distant for now. Amid an ongoing standoff, US President Donald Trump has issued a blunt warning to Iran, urging Tehran to "get serious" about the truce proposal. He threatened Iran amid reports that Washington has put forward a detailed plan to end the conflict, even as Tehran rejected direct negotiations.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump blasted Iran’s approach. "The Iranian negotiators are very different and 'strange.' They are 'begging' us to make a deal, which they should be doing since they have been militarily obliterated, with zero chance of a comeback, and yet they publicly state that they are only 'looking at our proposal.' WRONG!!!" he wrote.
"They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty! President DJT," he added.
Indirect talks between the United States and Iran are under way, with messages being passed through Pakistan, while Turkey and Egypt are also stepping in to support as mediators, Pakistan’s foreign minister said. The United States has shared a 15-point proposal with Iran via Pakistan aimed at opening a path toward a ceasefire.
The proposed 15-point plan lays out sweeping conditions to reshape Iran’s military and nuclear posture. It includes strict curbs on Tehran’s nuclear programme, a halt to support for proxy groups, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Washington is also pushing for a month-long ceasefire to create space for negotiations. However, given the scale of the demands and Iran’s constant resistance to similar frameworks, Tehran is unlikely to accept the proposal in its current form.
Other elements of the plan reportedly include dismantling Iran’s missile capabilities and related military infrastructure. In return, the US is said to be offering partial sanctions relief, permission for a UN-monitored civilian nuclear programme -- with a fuel facility located outside Iran -- and potential economic engagement to support Iran’s struggling economy.

The IRGC claimed it had "successfully targeted" the US aircraft, though it did not immediately provide details on the location, extent of damage or the fate of the pilot. There has been no immediate confirmation from the United States military, which has previously disputed similar claims by Iran during the conflict.

Continuing on their string of victories in special elections since 2024, Democrats flipped the long-held Republican 87th House District in the Florida State House on Tuesday. The win, which comes ahead of the critical midterms in November, also hands Democrats a seat that is home to President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.
