Red corner notices issued for absconding Mangaluru gang rape and murder suspects, Kushalnagar Sulaiman and Samshuddin.
Red corner notices have been issued against 38-year-old gang rape accused Kushalnagar Sulaiman alias Sameer and 36-year-old murder accused Samshuddin alias Shaik Mohammed Sadiq, who are absconding.
Sulaiman alias Sameer is an accused in the gang rape of a medical student in Deralakatte in December 2013. He is also accused in the case of assault of Assistant Sub Inspector Aithappa reported in Urwa Police Station limits in 2017. Police had arrested Sulaiman, Samshuddin and Safwan in the gang rape case. Following failure to appear before the court, a proclamation warrant against Sulaiman was issued by the 6th Additional District and Sessions Court, Mangaluru. He is said to have moved to Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said Sulaiman is accused in a total of 14 criminal cases, most of which were pending trial. Interpol had issued Red Corner notice against Sulaiman on April 2 for provisional arrest and informed the Interpol National Central Bureau.
Similarly , RCN was issued on March 4 against Samshuddin alias Shaik Mohammed Sadiq, who is among four persons sentenced to life for abduction and murder of car driver Praveen Shetty in Kalavaru, near Mangaluru, on November 10, 2008. To evade court proceedings and punishment, Samshuddin concealed his real identity and used forged documents to fraudulently obtain Indian Passport in the name of Shaik Mohammed Sadiq, the RCN mentioned.
Process to issue RCN was stopped against Safwan following his recent arrest, Mr. Reddy said.
