Rangoli contests bring festive mood to Vizianagaram

Vizianagaram celebrates Sankranti with bustling markets, rangoli competition, and spiritual activities.
Vizianagaram wore a festive look ahead of Sankranti, with almost all markets getting jam-packed with customers and textile showrooms on GT Road, Vulliveedhi and Balaji markets making brisk sales on Sunday, January 12.
Meanwhile, hundreds of women participated in the rangoli competition organised by Vaji, a television channel, at Gurjada Kalakshetram in Vizianagaram. The channel’s managing director, Ganapatineedi Srinivasa Rao, gave away prizes to the winners.
In a separate event, Adhyatmika Jnana Jyothi Mandali president Pentapati Venkata Ramanakumari organised spiritual activities in the city to enable youth to learn the importance of festivals like Bhogi and Sankranti. “Every Indian festival is aimed to improve family bonding and unity among the people,” she said.

The Shakespeare Millennium Club in collaboration with the Annai Velankanni Church (Society of St. Vincent De Paul), conducted a Free Medical Camp on November 23, 2025 at the church premises from 9 am to 6 pm, with Dr. Samundi Sankari and Dr. Divya Sivaraman of Srushti Hospitals, Dr. Sharada L N of Aramba, the Kumaran Dental Clinic, Lychee and Satya Physiotherapy Centre, according to a press release.
