Rajasthan: Shobha yatra held amid tight security in Jaipur

Shobha Yatra was organised in Rajasthan’s Jaipur on Sunday amid heavy security in the wake of communal violence that erupted in Karauli earlier this month.
Elaborate security arrangements were made for the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra held in Rajasthan’s Jaipur on Sunday. Section 144 of the Code Of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was imposed in the city in the aftermath of violence that erupted in Karauli during a bike rally on Nav Samvatsar (Hindu New Year) earlier this month.
In the wake of incidents of stone-pelting at a bike rally in Karauli, the Rajasthan government had imposed curfew in several cities to maintain law and order.
The shobha yatra was carried out peacefully in Jaipur on Sunday, April 10, and there were no reports of communal flare-ups in the state capital.

The procession went past the old city of Jaipur, including Ramganj, Manak chowk and Subhash chowk peacefully. Hundreds of people welcomed the shobha yatra on Ram Navami in Jaipur as it passed by.
The Jaipur Police remained on high alert, as more than 1200 personnel were stationed along the yatra route, on terraces and rooftops of high rise buildings. Surveillance and inspection was being carried out through drones as well and senior police officers were a part of the march past that was carried out in the area.
"No playing of music on DJ was allowed for the Shobha Yatra as Section 144 remained in place. No provocative sloganeering shall be allowed during the Yatra," Paris Deshmukh, DCP, mentioned to India Today.
