As the Bharat Jodo Yatra completed one week, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, on Wednesday and also interacted with auto-rickshaw drivers.
Gandhi also offered his respects at the samadhi of the spiritual leader, philosopher and social reformer, Sree Narayana Guru. The Wayanad MP also met the seers at Sivagiri Mutt before resuming his Yatra from Navaikulam.
The Yatra that started from Kanyakumari on September 7, reached Kerala’s Kollam district on Wednesday morning.
Rahul Gandhi, while tweeting the video of his interaction with the auto drivers, said, “ Those who used to earn 500 in a day earlier are now earning 300, in this backbreaking inflation, it is becoming difficult for children to educate and run a family. In these difficult circumstances, I stand with my auto driver brothers and will continue to raise my voice against inflation.”\

The matter pertains to a petition filed by one Nikhil Kumar Punia, who was born into an upper-caste Hindu family but supposedly converted to Buddhism later. He, along with another General Category candidate, has sought minority reservation benefits for admission to a Buddhist medical college on grounds of their purported conversion.

Energy disruption due to the war in the Middle East has exposed India's dependence on imported gas. It has prompted a policy shift mandating a switch from LPG to piped natural gas (PNG) where available. With supply constraints looming, the government is fast-tracking pipelines and pushing a nationwide transition to strengthen energy security.
