SSP Mandeep Singh in Punjab has started an initiative with the help of a private firm to cover the fee of 3000 government school students.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu launched an initiative to pay the fees of 3,000 government school students in Dhuri with the assistance of a private company in an effort to promote education.
SSP Mandeep Singh further said in a press conference, “Now Punjab will become 'Padhta Punjab'. I started the movement on a small scale and people joined in and so did the contributions to promoting education in the state.”
SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu further underlined that the chairman of a private corporation has joined the cause to help children studying in government schools.
He went on to say, "School fees of around three thousand children would be paid by the Rasila group, which is really appreciable. Also, they would be helping the students from distant schools to get education smoothly."
A spokesperson from the private organisation assisting SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that they came to know of the SSP’s initiative to help students, and liked it.
The spokesperson further said, "Illiteracy is a curse. Life without education is incomplete. In view of this, we have decided to allocate Rs 50 lakh, so as to help these children."
