In a modest eatery in Pune, between a plate of misal and the hum of an ordinary afternoon, a heartwarming scene is what many visitors noticed - five schoolboys, one plate of matki bhel, and a celebration that needed little more than each other.
Vineeth K, a Pune-based investor, wrote about the incident in a post on X that has gone viral on social media.
“Took mom out for misal today,” he began. While they were eating, Vineeth noticed a group of five children from a local zilla parishad school walk into the eatery. The children ordered a single plate of matki bhel, and shared it among themselves.
“Five of them. One plate. Enjoyed it thoroughly with full of joy. They passed it around like it was a feast,” he said, adding: “Like happiness just needs company.”
The scene reminded him of his own college days, but what followed added another layer to the experience.
As he went to pay his bill, the shopkeeper, someone Vineeth knew, pointed towards the children and said, “Dekho, aaj birthday hai. Isiliye masti kar raha hai (Look, it’s his birthday. That’s why he’s celebrating).”
