Blind musician serenades Mumbai local with soulful flute performance
India Today
A video showing a soulful performance of a man inside a Mumbai local has gone viral. Only after a few seconds into the video one realises that the man is visually impaired.
In the middle of a noisy Mumbai local, a blind man’s flute brought everything to a pause, transforming a crowded commute into something unexpectedly moving.
In a video shared by Instagram user Onkar Shingote, what begins as an ordinary train ride soon unfolds into something far more moving. The clip opens with a bespectacled man sitting quietly, his gaze fixed ahead, his demeanour withdrawn. To the person filming, he appeared distant, perhaps drunk or simply lost in his own world, another anonymous face in the daily rush of the city.
But within moments, the scene takes an unexpected turn.
A fellow passenger gets up and offers him some money, hinting at a reality not immediately visible. It is then that viewers realise the man is blind. What follows shifts the mood of the entire compartment. The man reaches for a flute and begins to play.
As the soft notes fill the air, the noise of the train seems to recede. What was once a crowded, restless space turns into an impromptu concert. Passengers who were moments ago absorbed in their own lives now sit in quiet attention, drawn into the melody that gently weaves through the carriage.
