Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement on increasing population on the occasion of World Population Day erupted a debate. Now, BJP leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s statement on the same has come to the fore. Naqvi said that linking an increase in the population with a religion is not justified. This is the problem of the whole country.
In a tweet, the minister wrote, “Population explosion is not the problem of any religion, it is a problem of the country. It is not fair to associate it with caste and any religion.”

Naqvi’s statement came at a time when he had recently resigned from the post of Union Minister. His Rajya Sabha term is over. However, there are talks of him being the BJP candidate for the post of Vice President.
